Advocacy Seeks Iowa Small Business Input in Regulatory Reform Discussion

Release No. 18-27 ADV

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Office of Advocacy of the U.S. Small Business Administration encourages small business owners from Iowa and surrounding states to participate in a series of roundtable discussions next week. These events allow small business owners and stakeholders from all industries to discuss the effects of federal regulations. The first event will be held in Council Bluffs on Tuesday, July 17. The second event will be held in West Des Moines on Wednesday, July 18. The third and final event will be held in Dubuque on Thursday, July 19.

The purpose of these events is to gain insight into which specific federal regulatory burdens present the biggest barriers to small business growth. With these recommendations, Advocacy can better assist federal agencies in complying with President Trump’s directives to reduce burdensome regulations.

“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy in Iowa, making up over 99 percent of businesses in the state,” said U.S. Senator Joni Ernst. “As I visit with our job creators across the state, one of the most common concerns that I hear is the challenge of dealing with burdensome regulations. I commend the Office of Advocacy for hosting regulatory roundtables in Iowa to hear about these challenges firsthand.”

These events are free, but advance registration is recommended. For date, times, and registration information, please visit the following link:
