APHIS Requests Comments and Information on Approaches to Livestock Indemnity Value Determinations
On September 7, 2022, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal, Plant, and Health Inspection Service published an advance notice of proposed rulemaking to solicit comments on a new approach to livestock indemnity value determinations, and regulatory procedures. Among other modifications, APHIS is considering these structural changes to the regulations:
(1) Standardizing use of an annual indemnity value table for livestock species.
(2) Consolidating all commodity indemnity regulations under a specific section.
APHIS is seeking comments and feedback on the notice, as well as information regarding costs that may be incurred because of the proposed changes.
Written comments on the proposed rule are due by November 7, 2022.
