Advocacy Releases Regulatory Flexibility Act Resources for Small Businesses and Federal Agencies

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Two new resources from the Office of Advocacy are available to help small businesses understand federal rulemaking and assist federal agencies in complying with the Regulatory Flexibility Act (RFA).
The guide for small businesses titled, “A Basic Guide to Federal Rulemaking and Small Business,” helps small businesses understand their role in the federal rulemaking process. It outlines steps to a new regulation, how to express concerns or support for a proposed rule, information on how public comments affect the final rule and more.

Advocacy also published a data page with RFA data resources for federal agencies. The data page provides publicly available data resources that are useful in developing the analysis to complete a certification or an IRFA.

“Small business often ask us how they can be heard when a new rule is proposed, and federal agencies ask us where to find data so they can analyze the impact of a proposed rule on small business,” said Acting Chief Counsel Major Clark. “These new resources will be incredibly helpful in answering those questions.”
