EPA Requests Comment on Increasing Ethanol in Summertime Gasoline and on Reforms to the Renewable Fuel Standard Credit Market

On March 21, 2019, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published a proposed rule seeking comment on two different aspects of the nation’s gasoline supply. First, EPA proposed a change to fuel standards that would allow gasoline with 15 percent ethanol to be sold during the summer. Second, EPA proposed changes to the credit market that drives the Renewable Fuel Standard that would increase recordkeeping and reporting and limit credit holdings, to increase transparency and deter suspected market manipulation. Written comments are due April 29, 2019.
