What: On May 15, 2025, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) published a notice in the Federal Register proposing to open or expand hunting or sport fishing opportunities on 16 National Wildlife Refuge System stations and 1 National Fish Hatchery System station.
Why: The FWS proposal will open or expand 42 opportunities for hunting and fishing across more than 87,000 acres of federal lands and waters. The agency has certified that the proposed rule, if enacted, will not have a significant impact on a substantial number of small entities.
Action: Comments on the proposed rule are due June 30, 2025.
