DOE Reopens Comment Period on Proposed Procedures for Energy Conservation Standards and Test Procedures for Consumer and Commercial/Industrial Products
On February 13, 2019 the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced a notice of proposed rulemaking to clarify the process rule that applies to the establishment of new or revised energy conservation standards for consumer products and commercial/industrial equipment. The rule would make these procedures binding on DOE, as well as expanding opportunities for public input on rulemaking activities. Following the closing of the comment period on the proposed rule, DOE published for comment a notice of data availability (NODA). DOE received comments from stakeholders requesting additional time to analyze the NODA and to supplement comments on the proposed rule accordingly. The agency is therefore reopening the comment period on the proposed rule. Written comments are due by August 30, 2019.
