DOE Seeks Comments on Its Proposed Rule on Energy Conservation Standards for Dedicated-Purpose Pool Pumps

On January 18, 2017, the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy published concurrent and identical proposed and direct final rules amending energy conservation standards for dedicated-purpose pool pumps.  On January 25, 2016 DOE published a Test Procedure final rule establishing new test procedures for the pumps. This rule became effective on February 24, 2016. DOE is now seeking comments on its identical direct final and proposed rules for conservation standards. If adverse comments that provide a reasonable basis for withdrawal are received, the Department will withdraw the direct final rule and proceed with the proposed rule. Comments are due by May 8, 2017.

Read the proposed rule and submit comments here.
