OSHA to Host Informal Public Hearings on Proposed Deregulatory Actions

What: On June 3, 2026, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) announced that the agency will host a series of informal public hearings on multiple proposed deregulatory actions that were published in the Federal Register on July 1, 2025, and April 6, 2026. Topics include changes to 16 chemical substance regulations as well as rules on respiratory protection, medical evaluations, walking-working surfaces, and color coding for marking physical hazards.

Why: OSHA welcomes interested persons to these informal public hearings to provide the agency with the best available evidence to use in developing possible deregulatory actions. Participants can share feedback by providing oral testimony and documentary evidence during the hearing.

Action: The OSHA informal public hearings will be held virtually beginning on August 19, 2026. To testify, provide documentary evidence, or question other witnesses at the OSHA hearing, you must electronically submit a Notice of Intention to Appear (NOITA) to OSHA on or before July 6, 2026.

In addition, those who request more than 10 minutes for their presentation at the informal hearing and those who intend to submit documentary evidence at the hearing must submit the full text of their testimony, as well as a copy of any documentary evidence, to OSHA no later than August 5, 2026.
