On December 13, 2024, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published a notice and request for comment on the 2026 multi-sector general permit (MSGP) for stormwater discharges associated with industrial activity.
The draft 2026 MSGP covers stormwater discharges from industrial facilities in 30 different sectors.
Advocacy strongly recommends the EPA withdraw the 2026 MSGP. The EPA should consider the 2026 MSGP as a rule and properly analyze its impacts on small entities prior to reissuance. Additionally, Advocacy does not believe the EPA has the justification to add new monitoring requirements in the 2026 MSGP.
