Deconstructing the Change in Veteran Business Ownership

Veteran-owned businesses are generally owned by older veterans. As they age out of the workforce, the number of veteran firms is decreasing. From 2014 to 2020, veteran ownership declined from 11% of businesses to 8.1% of businesses. At the same time, the composition of veterans is shifting toward women and minority groups.
