On September 13, 2023, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) published a proposed rule in the Federal Register listing the Quitobaquito tryonia (Tryonia quitobaquitae), a springsnail species from Arizona, as an endangered species.
Additionally, FWS proposes to designate approximately 6,095 square feet (566 square meters) across 2 subunits in Pima County, Arizona as critical habitat for the species.
FWS has certified that the proposed critical habitat designation will not have a significant economic impact on a substantial number of small business entities.
Comments on the proposed rule are due November 13, 2023. Requests for a public hearing must be received by October 30, 2023.
