EPA Seeks Comment on Decision Not to Regulate Nine Drinking Water Contaminants
What: On January 15, 2025, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published a proposed decision not to regulate nine drinking water contaminants.
Why: The Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) requires EPA to determine whether unregulated drinking water contaminants should be regulated every five years.
EPA has proposed not to regulate the following contaminants:
- 2-aminotoluene
- cylindrospermopsin
- ethoprop
- microcystins
- molybdenum
- permethrin
- profenofos
- tebuconazole
- tribufos
Action: Comments on specific contaminants as well as the process used for regulatory determinations are due March 17, 2025.
