EPA Seeks Input from Small Entities on Meat and Poultry Products Effluent Guidelines Rulemaking Revision

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is seeking small businesses, governments, and not-for-profit organizations to participate as Small Entity Representatives (SERs) for a Small Business Advocacy Review Panel under the Small Business Regulatory Enforcement and Fairness Act (SBREFA Panel). This panel will focus on EPA’s development of the Meat and Poultry Products Effluent Limitations Guidelines Rulemaking Revision, an upcoming proposal that may impact small entities that engage in the slaughter, further processing, and/or rendering of meat and poultry, and that discharge wastewater to waters of the U.S. or to publicly owned treatment works (POTWs). In this rulemaking, EPA is considering potential new pretreatment standards, new or stricter limits on phosphorus and other pollutants, and may change the current subcategories or establish additional subcategories. The Agency intends to propose this rule in December 2023.

EPA has requested self-nominations be submitted by February 1, 2023.
