USDA Seeks Comments on Amendments to the Regulations Governing Meats, Prepared Meats, and Meat Products (Grading, Certification, and Standards)

On February 5, 2019, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) issued a proposed rule to update out-of-date shields and grade markers associated with grading services, and outdated administrative references as it pertains to grading, certification and standards for meats, prepared meats and meat products. Among the proposed changes are several revisions of definitions, and updates to markings required for inspections and certifications. Comments are due by April 8, 2018.
