Annual Report Of The Office Of Economic Research, FY 2021

To support Advocacy’s mission of examining the contributions of small businesses to the American economy, the Office of Economic Research (OER) spent fiscal year 2021 providing timely and relevant research products, analyzing proposed regulations for small business impacts, and promoting and presenting its research and statistics to small business stakeholders.

In FY 2021, OER published 23 research products, including research on the COVID-19 pandemic. OER evaluated the factors harming small businesses in fact sheets and economic bulletins, and released economic studies on veteran entrepreneurship, international trade, and small business lending. OER also revamped the small business profile series for states, territories, and congressional districts to include new graphics and data covering business dynamics, demographics, and small business lending. They also produced a new timely small business lending report focused on the initial period of the pandemic covering trends in lending by lender and loan type.
