Office of Advocacy Appoints William Elmore to Serve as Regional Advocate for Midwestern States

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Office of Advocacy in the U.S. Small Business Administration is pleased to announce Bill Elmore has been appointed to serve as the Region 7 Advocate. As Advocate, Elmore will work on behalf of small businesses in Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska. He will be the direct link between the region’s small business owners, state and local government agencies, state legislators, small business associations, and the Office of Advocacy.
Elmore is a veteran of the United States Air Force. He has been a small business owner for the past 40 years helping veterans with their own small businesses. Elmore helped to draft legislation which became The Veterans Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development Act of 1999. He served as the first Associate Administrator for Veterans Business Development for SBA, a position he held for 12 years. Since leaving the SBA in 2012, he has continued to support veteran entrepreneurs.

Elmore stated, “I am privileged to serve as the Region 7 Advocate for the Office of Advocacy. I look forward to carrying small business interests and concerns back to our nation’s capital from Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska.”
The Office of Advocacy has regional advocates in each of the 10 federal regions. This team identifies new issues and concerns of small business owners. They work closely with local government officials, state officials and legislators, and the Chief Counsel for Advocacy to develop programs and policies that support small business growth.
