BLM Seeks Comments on Forest Managements Decisions and the Administration of the Timber Sale Process

On June 8, 2020, the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Land Management (BLM) published a proposed rule to revise regulations for protests of forest management decisions and the administration of the timber sale process. The proposed rule would, among other things, eliminate the protest process after a forest management decision is issued. BLM states that this elimination will expedite the implementation of timber management decisions while still providing ample opportunity for public comment. BLM further states that the rule will allow the public to engage earlier in the forest management process. Finally, BLM has stated the rule will not have a significant economic impact on a substantial number of small entities. Comments are due by August 7, 2020.
