Advocacy Welcomes Robert L. Wehagen as Congressional and Legislative Affairs Manager

Release No. 17-25 ADV

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Robert “Robby” L. Wehagen III has been appointed to serve as the SBA Office of Advocacy’s Congressional and Legislative Affairs Manager. Wehagen will coordinate the office’s communications with Capitol Hill. Advocacy regularly reports to the Hill on small business issues, especially those raised in the Regional Regulatory Reform Roundtables, whose purpose is to reduce small business regulatory burdens.

“Coming from a family of small business owners in Ohio, I’m excited to help the Chief Counsel for Advocacy advance the views and concerns of our nation’s small businesses before Congress,” said Wehagen.

Wehagen has an extensive background in government and the private sector. Most recently, he was an advocate and director of government relations for a trade association representing 11,000 small businesses that manufacture and install highway safety equipment. He has served in three House offices and two committees. Wehagen’s extensive campaign experience culminated in his work for the 2016 Republican National Convention in his home city of Cleveland, Ohio, and the 58th Presidential Inaugural Committee in 2017. Wehagen earned a bachelor of arts in political science and history from Furman University in Greenville, S.C.

“We are very pleased to have Robby Wehagen join our team,” said acting Chief Counsel for Advocacy Major L. Clark, III. “His time spent on Capitol Hill and in small business advocacy has well prepared him for his new role as Congressional and Legislative Affairs Manager.”
