What: On August 15, 2025, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced it would extend the comment period on its proposal to repeal greenhouse gas (GHG) vehicle and engine emission standards for vehicles and engines until September 22, 2025.
Why: The EPA is also proposing to rescind its 2009 finding that GHG emissions from new motor vehicles and engines contribute to air pollution, which may endanger public health or welfare.
Action: Comments are now due September 22, 2025.
