What: On March 25, 2025, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reopened the comment period for its proposed amendments to the new source performance standards (NSPS) for new, modified, and reconstructed stationary combustion turbines and stationary gas turbines.
Why: The proposed rule strengthens the limits for emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOX) from most new, modified, and reconstructed stationary combustion turbines and addresses specific technical and editorial issues in the current regulations for new, modified, and reconstructed stationary combustion turbines and stationary gas turbines.
The small entities subject to the requirements of this proposed rule are private companies, investor-owned utilities, cooperatives, municipalities, and subdivisions that would seek to build and operate stationary combustion turbines in the future. EPA estimates that the cost of the proposed rule to impacted small entities will be 0.01 percent of its sales.
Action: Comments are due April 15, 2025.
