FWS Proposes Critical Habitat Designation for the Sacramento Mountains Checkerspot Butterfly
On August 10, 2023, the Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) published a proposed rule in the Federal Register designating critical habitat for the Sacramento Mountains Checkerspot Butterfly.
FWS proposes to designate approximately 1,636.9 acres in Otero County, New Mexico as critical habitat for the butterfly.
FWS has certified that the proposed critical habitat designation will not have a significant economic impact on a substantial number of small business entities.
Comments on the proposed rule are due October 10, 2023.
