Forest Service Seeks Comments on Proposal to Amend Fees for Communications Use Authorizations
On December 22, 2021, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Forest Service (Service) published a proposed rule to amend programmatic administrative fees for communications use authorizations on Forest Service lands. The Service states that it will use the fees to address the backlog of expired communications use authorizations, streamline implementation, and improve overall access. The Service is certifying the proposal and states that it will not have a significant economic impact on a substantial number of small entities, stating that overall impacts to most small governmental jurisdictions and small businesses would be less than one percent. There are however some small governmental jurisdictions and small businesses that will incur greater impacts.
