DOI Hosts Listening Sessions, Seeks Comments on Ways to Advance Equity Through Outdoor Recreation
On October 19, 2021, the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) published a notice of listening sessions and request for public comment to obtain information on the barriers that underserved communities face in recreating on DOI managed lands. This notice comes in response to Executive Order 13985, which directs agencies to evaluate processes, policies, and guidance to identify and address barriers to equality. While the agency is accepting comments from any interested party, DOI is specifically interested in perspectives from underserved communities, including those in rural areas. Written comments on the notice are due by November 18, 2021.
