EPA Seeks Comments on Notice of Availability of Draft Fifth Contaminated Candidate List (CCL 5)
On July 19, 2021, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued a notice of availability of its draft Fifth Contaminated Candidate List (CCL 5) to include contaminants that are not currently subject to any proposed or promulgated national primary drinking water regulations. EPA is specifically requesting comments on whether to include 66 chemicals, three chemical groups (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), cyanotoxins, disinfection byproducts, and twelve microbial contaminants. The three chemical groups of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances include more than 4,000 PFAS. Comments on the notice of draft CCL 5 are due September 17, 2021.
