Small Business Labor Safety (OSHA/MSHA) Roundtable – April 23

Small Business Roundtable on OSHA’s Proposed Hazard Communication Rule

Friday, April 23, 2021, 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. (Eastern Time)

Via Teams Webinar

Dear Small Business Representatives:

On February 16, 2021, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) published a proposed rule to modify its Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) to conform to the United Nations’ Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) Revision 7.  (See, 2021-02-16.pdf (osha.gov.)  In order to better understand this issue, the SBA Office of Advocacy will host a Small Business Roundtable on OSHA’s Proposed Hazard Communication Rule on Friday, April 23, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.  The meeting will be held via Teams Webinar.  The agenda includes a background presentation on the proposed rule from Maureen Ruskin, the Acting Director OSHA’s Directorate of Standards and Guidance, as well as a discussion of one concern that has arisen concerning the obligations of chemical manufacturers to classify chemicals and prepare Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for downstream customers.

Please RSVP to Bruce.Lundegren@sba.gov if you would like to join the meeting and he will forward you the webinar access information.

The Office of Advocacy takes its direction from small businesses and hosts roundtables to receive input from small businesses and other small entities.  We need your help, as representatives of small businesses, to understand the impact of federal regulations on small entities.  I hope you can join us on the 23rd.  Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or require additional information.
