USDA Seeks Comments on Strengthening Organic Enforcement within the National Organic Program
On August 5, 2020 the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) published a proposed rule to amend organics regulations to strengthen enforcement of production, handling and sale of organic products. The proposal includes new certification requirements including updates to the certificate, labeling requirements, and qualification and training requirements for certifying agents among other things. AMS is seeking specific comments and feedback from small businesses on its cost estimates and analysis. Written comments are due by October 5, 2020.
