DOE Seeks Comments and Information on Research Needs for Offshore Wind Energy Developments in U.S. Waters

On June 3, 2020, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) in conjunction with the Department of Interior’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management and Fish and Wildlife Service, and the Department of Commerce’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration issued a request for information (RFI) on research needs related to the environmental impacts of offshore wind energy development and monitoring and mitigation technologies in U.S. Waters. The RFI requests information from the public related to a number of topics including but not limited to: bird and bat collisions; construction noise monitoring and mitigation; and habitat changes and habitat use for various animal and plant species. Commenters must submit their comments electronically to  WindEnergyRFI@ee.doe.gov and must be provided as attachments to an email.  Comments on the RFI are due by July 7, 2020.
