DOI Seeks Comments on Critical Habitat for Yellow Lance
On Feb. 6, 2020, the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Fish and Wildlife Service issued a proposed rule to designate critical habitat for the yellow lance. The designation would encompass approximately 319 river miles in North Carolina, Virginia, and Maryland. Under the Endangered Species Act, if this designation is finalized, certain protections of the Act would extend to the proposed areas and activities would be restricted or require additional permitting and conditions. Comments are due by April 6, 2020.
