CPSC Seeks Comments on Proposed Rule to Implement Safety Standard for Infant and Toddler Gates and Enclosures

On July 8, 2019, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission published a proposed rule to implement a safety standard for infant and toddler safety gates and enclosures pursuant to the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008. The proposed rule would adopt the voluntary standard developed by ASTM and include requirements for labeling and third-party testing. The agency has stated that the rule will have a significant economic impact on a substantial number of small entities and is seeking public comment on this, and other topics.  Written comments are due by September 23, 2019.
