DOI Seeks Comments on Existing Regulations

Pursuant to Executive Order 13777, “Enforcing the Regulatory Reform Agenda”, requiring that Agencies identify regulations for repeal, replacement, or modification, the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) is requesting public comments to assist in identifying existing regulations that should be modified or repealed.

DOI is specifically requesting comments on the following:

  • Rules that eliminate jobs, or inhibit job creation;
  • Are outdated;
  • Impose costs that exceed benefits;
  • Create inconsistencies,  or interfere with regulatory reform policies;
  • Rely on data or methods that are not publicly available.

DOI has not established a deadline for comments; they will be reviewed on an ongoing basis. Please refer to the chart within the Request for Comment for instructions on where to submit comments to each particular Agency.
