DOE Seeks Comments on Energy Conservation Standards (Misc. Gas Products, Consumer Furnace Fans, Portable Electric Spas, and Various Gas Consumer Furnaces)

The Department of Energy is requesting comments on reviews of several current energy conservation standards, test procedures, and notices of data availability. The agency is deciding whether to amend efficiency standards and/or test procedures, and whether it is technologically feasible and economically justifiable to do so. The agency is also evaluating the impact on small entities, and the public is invited to submit specific small business considerations.

Miscellaneous Gas Products

On June 24, 2022, DOE requested and received data regarding specific product categories, energy use, shipment, and technology options, and more. DOE also conducted confidential manufacturer interviews. The agency is now announcing the availability of additional data and information for public review and comment based on what was submitted during the previous open comment period. Written comments are due by December 19, 2022.

Consumer Furnace Fans

DOE is announcing the availability of technical support documents and its preliminary analysis for the purposes of evaluating the need for amended energy conservation standards for consumer furnace fans. DOE will hold a public webinar to discuss and receive comment on the preliminary analysis. Portable Electric Spas

DOE is accepting comments on preliminary data related to its evaluation of potential amendments to the energy conservation standards for portable electric spas. Oil, Electric, and Weatherized Gas Consumer Furnaces

DOE announced the availability of preliminary analysis conducted for the purposes of determining the need for amended energy conservation standards for non-weatherized oil-fired furnaces, mobile home oil-fired furnaces, weatherized gas furnaces, weatherized oil-fired furnaces, and electric furnaces. DOE will hold a public webinar to discuss and receive comment on the preliminary analysis.
