EPA Seeks Comments on Proposed Revisions to the Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule (UCMR 5) for Public Water Systems
On March 11, 2021, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued a notice of proposed Revisions to the Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule for Public Water Systems under the Safe Drinking Water Act. The proposed rule would require certain public water systems to collect data for 29 per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) as well as for lithium. EPA will be hosting two public meetings to discuss the proposed rule. The public meetings will be held virtually on April 6, 2021 at 9:00am-12:30pm (ET) and April 7, 2021 at 1:00pm-4:30pm (ET). Registration for both meetings is on a first come, first served basis. Written comments on the notice are due by May 10, 2021.
