FWS Proposed Rule for Migratory Bird Permits Conflict Management for the Double-Crested Cormorant

On June 5, 2020, the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Fish and Wildlife Service issued a proposed rule to establish a new permit for State and federally recognized Tribal wildlife agencies for the management of double-crested cormorants. The new permit authorizes specific take activities intended to relieve impacts to lands with state and publicly stocked fish, aquaculture facilities, human health and safety, and State or Tribal-owned assets. The Service is certifying that if finalized, the rule will not have a significant economic impact on a substantial number of small entities. Written comments are due by July 20, 2020.
