On July 2, 2024, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced two public meetings of the Science Advisory Committee on Chemicals (SACC) as well as the solicitation of public comment on the draft risk evaluation for 1,1-dichloroethane and the draft human health hazard technical support document for 1,2-dichloroethane (also known as ethylene dichloride). The SACC will review these documents at the public meetings.
EPA will hold a preparatory meeting of the SACC on August 27, 2024, from 1:00-4:00 PM ET to consider the scope and clarity of the draft charge questions for peer review. Comments, and registration to provide oral comments, must be submitted by noon on August 23rd.
The full SACC meeting will be held between September 17-20, 2024, from 10:00-5:00 PM ET. Written comments must be submitted by September 2, 2024, and those requesting oral comments during the meeting must register and request time before September 10, 2024. Both of these meetings will be held virtually.
Meeting registration will open in late July. Written comments should be submitted through www.regulations.gov.
