EPA Seeks Comments on Requiring Farms to Report Animal Waste Air Emissions
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is asking for the public’s input on reporting animal waste air emissions at farms under the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA). In 2019, the EPA published a final rule that exempted reporting of animal waste air emissions under EPCRA for all farms, regardless of size. EPA is reconsidering that requirement in the final rule.
EPA is asking the public about issues it must address in a future proposed rule, including implementation challenges, small farm definition, and potential reporting exemption.
EPA has requested comments by February 15, 2024.
