FDA Extends Comment Period on Proposed Menthol Cigarette and Flavored Cigar Bans
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has extended the public comment period for two proposed tobacco product standards by 30 days. The proposed rules would prohibit menthol as a characterizing flavor in cigarettes and prohibit characterizing flavors other than tobacco in all cigars and their components and parts. In a notice published in the Federal Register on June 21, 2022, FDA explained that commenters have requested additional time to develop meaningful responses to the proposed rules.
Public comments on each rule are now due by August 2, 2022.
