FWS Proposes to Reclassify Northern Long-Eared Bat as Endangered
On March 23, 2022, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) published a proposed rule to reclassify the northern long-eared bat. The bat is currently listed as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act. This rule would reclassify the species from threatened to endangered. If finalized, the rule would prohibit taking (harass, harm, pursue, wound, kill, trap, collect etc.) of the species which may impact certain business activities in and around the areas inhabited by the species.
Comments are due by May 23, 2022.
