EPA Seeks Early Comments on Cleaner Trucks Initiative
On Jan. 21, 2020, EPA issued an advanced notice of proposed rulemaking (ANPRM) to announce its plans for a Cleaner Trucks Initiative (CTI). The new rulemaking would establish new emission standards for air pollution from on-highway heavy-duty engines and streamline existing certification processes. The ANPRM describes the purposes and goals of the CTI, EPA’s assessment of the current technologies available to reduce air pollution, and a few regulatory options.
Advocacy encourages small businesses that use trucks and small businesses that service or refurbish heavy-duty engines to provide their perspectives on the challenges they face with current emissions control technologies and the current regulatory process. Comments on the ANPRM are due on Feb. 20, 2020.
