DOE Seeks Comments on Amendments to Test Procedures for Ceiling Fans

On September 30, 2019, the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (DOE) published a proposed rule to amend test procedures for ceiling fans. This rule proposes various amendments to those test procedures including clarifying various definitions that DOE finalized in 2016. DOE has stated that the proposed rule does not materially change the burden to regulated entities and therefore is certifying that the proposed rule will not have a significant economic impact on a substantial number of small entities. The agency is seeking public comments on the proposed rule. Written comments are due by November 29, 2019.
