USDA Solicits Applications for the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) for FY 2020

On August 30, 2019, the Rural Business-Cooperative Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) announced a notice of solicitation of applications for financial assistance under the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) for fiscal year (FY) 2020. The REAP program has two types of funding assistance: (1) Renewable Energy Systems and Energy Efficiency Improvements Assistance, and (2) Energy Audit and Renewable Energy Development Assistance Grants. The first grant is available to rural small businesses to purchase and install renewable energy systems and make energy efficiency improvements to their operations. The second grant is available to small local governments, and rural electric cooperatives, among other parties, to assist in the evaluation of energy efficiency in operations. USDA has listed several deadlines for the submission of applications based on the types of grants and the amounts sought. Interested parties are encouraged to review the federal register notice and submit applications in advance of the posted deadlines.
