APHIS Seeks Comments on Proposed Rule to Amend Licensing Requirements for Dog Dealers, Exhibitors, and Handlers
On March 22, 2019, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal Plant Health Inspection (APHIS) published a proposed rule to amend the licensing requirements for dogs under the Animal Welfare Act. The proposal would require additional provisions for veterinary care and watering, as well as changing the terms and procedures for licensing. The agency does not believe that the rule will have a significant economic impact on a substantial number of small entities but is requesting data and information on this and a variety of other topics. Written comments are due by May 21, 2019.
