EPA Seeks Comments on Its Revised Lead-Dust Hazard Standards
On July 2, 2018, EPA published a proposed rule to lower its lead-dust hazard standards (DLHS) for floors from 40 mg/ft2 to 10 mg/ft2 and for window sills from 250 mg/ft2 to 100 mg/ft2. These standards apply to most pre-1978 housing and child-occupied facilities. They are incorporated into EPA’s lead-based paint activity regulations and they also trigger reporting obligations under real estate disclosure regulations. EPA is accepting comments on this proposal until August 16, 2018.
