DOE Extends Comment Period on Revising Energy Conservation Standards for Consumer Products

On December 18, 2017, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) published a request for information on revising energy conservation standards for consumer products. The request for information is in response to DOE’s regulatory reform efforts. DOE is seeking comments and information on potential improvements to the process of revising energy conservation standards. The request lists specific issue areas on which the public is invited to comment including but not limited to the use of direct final rules, negotiated rulemakings,  industry standards in test procedures, and the timing of test procedures. The comment period has been extended. Comments are now due by March 2, 2018.
