EPA Reopens Comment Period for Proposed Risk Management Rule of Colour Index Pigment Violet 29 Under the TSCA
What: On March 4, 2025, the Environmental Protection Agency reopened the comment period for the proposed risk management of C.I. Pigment Violet 29 (PV29) under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). PV29 is used in paints and coatings in the automobile industry, in plastic and rubber products, and commercial printing, among other uses.
Why: In September 2022, the EPA determined that PV29 presented an unreasonable risk to workers. The proposed risk management rule seeks to protect workers from inhalation exposure to PV29 by requiring respiratory protections and cleaning programs in workplaces where PV29 is used in its dry powder form.
Action: Submit comments on the proposed risk management rule by April 25, 2025.
Is your small business or entity being negatively impacted by a proposed rule? If yes, write a comment letter to the proposing agency.
